Interim Report Cards and Assessments
Silver Creek students will be bringing home the mid-term report cards on Friday May 7. The purpose of the interim reports is to give feedback on how your child is doing in core subjects since the March report cards. Teachers use a variety of information to assess students such as summative quizzes and projects as well as formative assessment practices such as peer, self and teacher feedback during work periods. Students and teachers continue to focus on the collaborative goal that was created back in November. Some students have met their goals and so have developed a new goal.
Grade 4’s and 7’s have completed the Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) and have brought home the booklet and marks for parents to view. Students have just completed the Student Numeracy Assessment of Critical Concepts (SNACC) and teachers have marked them. This information is necessary for us to determine next steps in our instruction of math skills. The critical concepts include the skills and knowledge that students need to understand to build on subsequent skills and knowledge. The list of Critical Concepts was included in the April newsletter.
If you have questions or concerns, always contact your child’s teacher.
