Unplug and Play at Silver Creek
Happy January everyone! January has been a busy month so far with new units and teachers are busy assessing student-parent and teacher goals set in November. Parents, please ask your child about their goal. Do they remember it? How are they doing with it? We are hoping that students can meet and surpass that goal this reporting period. Report cards will go home March 11, a change from our initial plan, due to a new report card format using MyEd BC. More about that in the next newsletter.
The Literacy alliance of the Shuswap Society (LASS) is promoting Unplug and Play this year from a distance. Please check out their website to learn more about this important week and how you can get involved. https://www.shuswapliteracy.ca/
At Silver Creek we are going ahead with our daily Unplug and Play events. On Monday, we went for a community walk to the Salmon river and had a scavenger hunt. Tuesday we read in the halls or gym for our Drop everything and Read event. Wednesday, students are making a parachute for an egg and we will drop all the eggs off the roof in the afternoon. Thank you to the Blair family for the donation of farm fresh eggs (hopefully most will not break and we can eat them!) Thursday we are playing old fashioned board games and Friday we are painting to music led by our music teacher, Mr. Larsen.
We encourage everyone to watch less tv, less computer time and spend more time reading, writing and enjoying the great outdoors.
